Hello all,
A lot of customers I know have wanted a nice, one click type backup setup to be able to backup their important files from their computer to an external drive or a network share. Microsoft Windows users luckily have access to a free Microsoft Tool that does exactly that, it’s called SyncToy. Basically a small program you can download and install from Microsoft here.
Once you have the program installed, it’s really a simple few steps to setup a sync. You choose a folder for the “left hand side” on your computer locally, then with the “right hand side” you choose the folder you are syncing with. There are a few variables which allow you to do a one-way sync between the folders, a synchronisation (basically any changes from either folder will update files to the latest).
If you grab this software and start regularly backing up your important files today it could save you a lot of time and pain later when trying to recover from a system crash or when you get a new computer. As always if you are having trouble or wanting assitance with setting this up, contact A Computer Guy for onsite support!
